spiritual gifts


What does the bible say?

Our heavenly Father has amazing gifts that He loves to bestow upon those whom He loves (that’s you!). Spiritual gifts are gifts from God for us as we live out His purposes in the earth.

Administration (kuberneseis) 1 Corinthians 12:28 : A gift provided by God for giving direction or guidance to the Body of Christ. This gift enables one to keep others on task, and delegate out specific tasks to others according to their gifts and talents.

Apostolic (apostolous) 1 Corinthians 12:28; Ephesians 4:11 : A gift given by God to introduce the Kingdom of God into new areas and to lay the foundation for the planting of new churches.

Discerning Spirits (diakriseis pneumaton) 1 Corinthians 12:10 : A gift given by God to have the capacity to perceive whether the spirit operating has a source that is human, demonic, or divine.

Evangelism (euangelistas) Ephesians 4:11 : A gift to proclaim the simple message of salvation to those who are nonbelievers, with the result that people become disciples of Jesus and responsible members of the Body of Christ.

Exhortation (parakalon) Romans 12:8 : A gift given by God which enables one to urge the community to pursue a certain course of action or conduct.

Faith (pistis) 1 Corinthians 12:9 : A gift given by God to discern with extraordinary confidence the will and purposes of God for what he wants to do in and through particular circumstances.

Giving (metadidous) Romans 12:8 : A gift given by God to entrust, steward, and contribute their material resources to the work God is doing with liberality and cheerfulness.

Healing (charismata iamaton) 1 Corinthians 12:9 : A gift given by God to cure illness and restore health and wholeness. This can be a progression in the physical, emotional, and spiritual arenas of one’s life.

Help / Service (antilepsis) 1 Corinthians 12:28 : A gift given by God to respond to a particular need through an act of serving or completing practical tasks behind the scenes that frees other people up.

Interpretation of Tongues (ermenela glosson) 1 Corinthians 12:10 : A gift given by God to understand what God is speaking through a message that is spoken in tongues. Bringing edification to the body by clarifying the message that was being declared through a corporate tongue.

Mercy (eleeo) Romans 12:8 : A gift given by God to lavishly administer compassion, forgiveness, and practical care to the needy as a clear reflection of God’s unmerited favor and generosity.

Miracles (dunamis) 1 Corinthians 12:10 : A gift given by God to perform powerful acts that are perceived by observers to have altered the ordinary course of nature and to have originated from a Divine source, opening an opportunity to sow seeds of the Gospel.

Leadership (proistemi) Romans 12:8 : A gift given by God to carry a vision in accordance with God’s purposes for the future, and to communicate and share this vision with others in such a way that they voluntarily and harmoniously move forward to see that vision come into existence for the Glory of God.

Pastoral (poimenas kai didaskalous) Ephesians 4:11 : A gift given by God to assume personal responsibility for the welfare, protection, and growth of a group of people.

Prophecy (propheteia) 1 Corinthians 12:10 : A gift given by God to declare what God is saying for the purpose of edification, and encouragement. Making known through words what the Spirit is saying.

Teaching (diakonian) Romans 12:7 : A gift given by God to explain the truth of revelation already given in Scripture. To communicate information relevant and helpful to the audience in such a way that the audience learns from what is being communicated.

Tongues (gene glosson) 1 Corinthians 12:10 : A gift given by God that is Holy Spirit-inspired utterances that spiritually edifies the believer speaking them. It can also be a gift of a language never learned to communicate God’s message to His people.

Word of Knowledge (logos gnoseos) 1 Corinthians 12:8 : A gift given by God to receive and communicate an insight inspired by God sharing truth that the Holy Spirit wants to declare concerning a specific occasion, person, or thing.

Word of Wisdom (logos sophias) 1 Corinthians 12:8 : A gift given by God to see what God sees, and communicate it plainly after applying God’s wisdom to the situation or circumstance.

Read through this list, study scripture for yourself, and activate the gifts that you already have. Additionally,

1 Corinthians 14 admonishes us to pursue and desire all of these gifts, so begin to ask the Holy Spirit for more

of these gifts to flow in and through your life!
